RCH Scheme – Birth Certificate - Registration of Pregnant women

Tamilnadu Government and the health department has announced that every pregnant woman has to do compulsory registration. It is a step taken for the safety of pregnant women. If any women do not register herself, then she will not get a birth certificate from the state. In this new scheme, women will get a birth certificate under Reproductive and Child Health (RCH) Scheme. Pregnant women of Tamilnadu can make online registration from picme.tn.gov.in.

Once the child is born, Mother/Family member has to submit 12 digit RCH ID number for the birth certificate. Village health center/ Ante-natal registration give this name. It is a move of the government to reduce Infant mortality rate and Maternal Mortality Rate.

RCH Scheme is started by Department of Public health to ensure the safety of pregnant women. This project has Aim to reduce Infant and Maternal Mortality rate. Women can seek advice from government hospitals, primary health centers, and health sub-centers. Village resident can get help from Village Health nurse and urban areas women can get details from Urban Health Nurses.

This scheme will help to track the health of women. It is an ambitious move of the government to reduce MMR and IMR. Women from all socio-Economic background are covered in this scheme.

A local hospital or VHM will upload data of women on Pregnant and Infant Cohort Monitoring and Evaluation (PICME) software. This data will be updated regularly by the authority. Once information is uploaded, it will generate 12 DIGIT RCH ID, which will be needed at the time of Birth Certificate.
